Palace Casino Resort makes a donation of $10,000 to Red Cross for Hurricane Harvey Disaster Assistance
August 31, 2017 — Palace Casino Resort has made a monetary donation of $10,000 to the American Red Cross for Hurricane Harvey disaster assistance in Texas. Palace Casino Resort and most of the resort’s over 800 associates experienced the devastation of Hurricane Katrina firsthand and understand what the survivors of Hurricane Harvey are facing today and for years to come.
“The Mississippi Gulf Coast received assistance from the American Red Cross and numerous other charities and organizations after Hurricane Katrina. After seeing the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey in Texas, we knew we needed to reciprocate, to express our sympathy for the victims and gratitude for their support when we needed assistance. On behalf of our associates, we’re making a $10,000 donation to the American Red Cross. They are already on site in Texas and can put the funds to use immediately,” stated General Manager Keith Crosby.
The American Red Cross is working hard to get help to where it is needed as Hurricane Harvey’s catastrophic devastation is being called the worst flooding disaster in U.S. history. The Red Cross estimates that at least 32,000 people sought refuge in more than 230 Red Cross and partner shelters across Texas this week. Over 1,500 disaster workers are on the ground in Texas with hundreds more on the way. More than half of the Red Cross’ emergency response fleet of 200 vehicles have been activated already. Donations to the American Red Cross, to assist with their massive response to the devastating storm, can be made by visiting redcross.org, calling 1-800-RED CROSS or texting the word HARVEY to 90999 to make a $10 donation.
