Juvenile Filly, Sweet Melania, in Breeders’ Cup
October 16, 2019, Biloxi, MS — Robert and Lawana Low, owners of Palace Casino Resort, have a contender, Sweet Melania, in the Juvenile Fillies Turf Division of the Breeders’ Cup World Championships on November 1 at Santa Anita Park.
Sweet Melania, the 2-year-old daughter of the famed Triple Crown winner, American Pharoah, recently won the $200,000 JPMorgan Chase Jessamine Stakes at Keeneland Race Course on Wednesday, October 9, 2019. She dominated the race, winning by a record-breaking 5 ½ lengths, the largest margin of victory in the 29-year history of the Jessamine. The victory earned Sweet Melania a spot in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1).
The Breeders’ Cup is a two day, fourteen race finish-line for the racing season. On November 1 & 2, the world’s greatest will gather to crown the champions. Spectators enjoy exciting events on and off the track. The Juvenile Fillies Turf race will be held on Friday, November 1 at 3:52 PM central time. The Juvenile Fillies Turf features the best two year old female turf horses from North America and overseas in a one mile race on the grass course, with a purse of $1,000,000.
